EPICenter
Edwardsville Pride Inclusivity Center
A source of pride, safety, equality, and support for the LGTBQIA+ community in the greater Edwardsville area.
Our Mission
Edwardsville Pride and Inclusivity Center, also known as EPIC or EPICenter, is an emerging nonprofit focused on providing support and a voice for our LGBTQ+ community.
We are run by people from our community, for our community.
We aim to provide resources, information, guidance, and whatever else our community may need throughout their journey.
We want everyone to have a genuine sense of pride in every aspect of who they are, as well as a way to make a difference in the world around them through that pride.
We endeavor to be active in the greater Edwardsville area through local activism and action.
Our pride is not just a quiet waving of flags; it is loud, ground-shaking work and it starts here at the EPICenter.
Upcoming Events
EPICenter Presents: Casa Susanna
Where: Edwardsville Public Library
When: April 2nd, 2024, 6 pm
Join us for the start of our new, ongoing series of events: "EPICenter Presents:", where we're hosting public viewings of LGBTQIA+ movies and documentaries showcasing our history and experiences with a chance for discussion afterwards.
In honor of Trans Day of Visibility (March 31st), our first film will be "Casa Susanna".
"In the 1950s and ’60s, an underground network of transgender women and cross-dressing men found refuge at a modest house in the Catskills region of New York. Known as Casa Susanna, the house provided a safe place to express their true selves and live for a few days as they had always dreamed—dressed as and living as women without fear of being incarcerated or institutionalized for their self-expression. Told through the memories of those who visited the house, the film provides a moving look back at a secret world where the persecuted and frightened found freedom, acceptance and, often, the courage to live out of the shadows."
